Ampere: Sports Rights Growing Faster Than TV Revenues Overall
Spending on U.S. sports rights jumped 122% since 2015, growing from $13.8 billion to $30.5 billion this year, Ampere Analysis said last week. During the same decade, total U.S. TV industry revenues were up just 24%, it noted.
Ampere said the U.S. growth was driven by mega deals, including NFL contracts signed in 2023 and NBA rights renewals starting in the 2025-26 season. Sports rights now account for 14% of all U.S. TV revenues, it said, adding that they have far less robust growth in Europe.
