Postal Tariffs Increased on Carriers for de Minimis Shipments From China

President Donald Trump’s April 8 executive order that raised the reciprocal tariff on China to 84% also increased tariffs applicable to postal shipments.

The order increases the tariff that will be applicable to carriers as of May 2 for postal shipments from China and Hong Kong that would otherwise qualify for de minimis, to 90%, or $75 per package. On June 2, that $75 flat rate increases to $150.

The tariff had previously been set at 30%, or $25 increasing to $50.

Trump subsequently said that on May 9 he will be raising the regular tariff applicable to China to 125%. Details had not been released as of press time.
