UK Drops 1 From Russia Sanctions List, Updates Other Listings
The U.K. made several changes to its sanctions list this week for entries involving Russia and Belarus.
The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation removed Farkhad Akhmedov, a businessman in the digital technologies sector, from its Russia sanctions list, and also corrected the listings for MCR Global Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret and Poly Technologies. It also corrected the listing for Alexander Shakutin under its Belarus sanctions list.
In a separate move, the U.K. amended the listing of Andrey Lugovoy under its global human rights sanctions regime. Lugovoy is an agent of the Russian Federal Security Service, or FSB, who's responsible for the killing of Alexander Litvinenko, OFSI said. It corrected his date of birth in the listing to Sept. 19, 1966.
