Congress Could Review Iran Sanctions Relief Under Reintroduced Bill

Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, reintroduced a bill March 10 aimed at giving Congress more oversight over administration actions to ease sanctions on Iran.

The Iran Sanctions Relief Review Act, or ISRRA, would require the president to report to Congress on any plans to terminate, waive or modify Iran sanctions. Congress could block the sanctions relief by passing a joint resolution of disapproval.

The bill was referred to the Foreign Affairs, Financial Services, Judiciary, Ways and Means, Oversight and Government Reform, and Rules committees. The House passed the bill in the last Congress.
