Bill to Sanction Houthi Backers Reintroduced
Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., reintroduced a bill on March 11 to sanction those who are complicit in or materially support attacks on international shipping by the Yemen-based Houthis.
The Combating Houthi Threats and Aggression Act would also require a report on the Houthis’ violations of the U.N. arms embargo against Yemen.
The bill was referred to the House Foreign Affairs and Judiciary committees. House Foreign Affairs, of which Green is a member, approved the bill in the last Congress (see 2405160062).
The reintroduction came less than a week after Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., reintroduced a bill that would authorize sanctions on the Houthis for human rights abuses (see 2503070068).
