Senator to Renew Bill Calling for Sudan Sanctions Strategy
Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., plans to reintroduce a bill that would require the administration to develop a strategy to use sanctions and other tools to protect civilians from Sudan’s civil war, a spokesperson said Feb. 21.
The date of the reintroduction and whether any changes to the text will be made have not been determined, the spokesperson told Export Compliance Daily.
Coons, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, introduced the Sudan Accountability Act in November, near the end of the previous Congress (see 2410030004).
