House Passes Bill to Punish Chinese Leaders If Taiwan Attacked
The House passed a bill Sept. 9 that would cut off top Chinese leaders and their family members from the U.S. financial system if China takes military action against Taiwan.
The Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act, which the House approved by voice vote, is intended to discourage Beijing from launching such an attack.
The House also plans to take up several export control bills and a Russia sanctions bill this week (see 2409040046).
