Senator Calls for Floor Debate on NDAA
Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., urged Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., last week to schedule Senate floor consideration of the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) “in the very near future.”
Thune said in a floor speech that the legislation is urgent because “our enemies are not delaying their ambitions or their aggressive activities.” Schumer's office didn't respond to a request for comment.
Senators have filed hundreds of potential amendments to the NDAA, including one that would authorize $100 million over four years to modernize the Bureau of Industry and Security’s aging information technology systems (see 2407180045).
