Certain Aircraft Sheet Not Covered by AD Order on Common Alloy Aluminum Sheet From Germany
Heat-treatable clad aluminum aircraft sheet imported by Capps Manufacturing isn't subject to antidumping duties on common alloy aluminum sheet from Germany, the Commerce Department in a May 22 scope ruling requested by Capps Manufacturing. Commerce said the aircraft sheet is made of a different type of aluminum alloy.
The ruling covers aluminum sheet made from either alloy series 2XXX or series 7XXX, the agency said, and is “used to produce skins for business jets, helicopters, and other aircraft.” The order covers common alloy aluminum sheet, clad or unclad, manufactured from either 1XXX-, 3XXX- or 5XXX- series alloy.
Commerce said the "plain language" of the orders was enough for it to reach its determination. The scope didn't cover either 2XXX- or 7XXX-series alloy, which are chemically and physically distinct from those included in the scope, and agency said, so Capps’ products aren't covered.
