Liquidation Resumes for Servicios Industriales Gonzalez

Liquidation of imported fabricated steel components from Servicios Industriales González in Nuevo Leon will resume, as the U.S. is satisfied with remediation at the facility after a USMCA rapid response labor complaint.

The company will pay almost $20,000 to six fired workers whom the U.S. says were fired for union activities, and will grant equal access to both unions seeking to represent the workers. The company will also tell workers it is neutral on which union they choose, and the Mexican government will educate workers and managers on labor rights.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said, “We commend the Government of Mexico and Servicios Industriales González for their work to swiftly address this matter and their continued efforts to ensure workers’ rights are upheld.”
