US, UK Sanction Hamas Fundraisers

The U.S. and the U.K. this week sanctioned Mustafa Ayash and Aozma Sultana, the founders of companies that fundraise on behalf of the terror group Hamas. The U.S. also sanctioned the companies: Gaza Now, which is owned by Ayash, and Al-Qureshi Executives and Aakhirah Limited, operated by Sultana.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control said the companies have supported Hamas after the group's terror attacks against Israel in October. Al-Qureshi Executives and Aakhirah Limited have “given thousands of dollars” to Gaza Now and advertised Gaza Now as a partner during a joint fundraiser shortly after the October attacks.

The U.K. said Gaza Now, a news organization, also supports and “promotes” Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Palestine-based military group. “We will also never hesitate to take action against those who exploit the integrity of Britain’s financial system, its broader economy and threaten our national security,” U.K. Treasury Minister Charlotte Vere said.
