US Focus on Export Enforcement 'Here to Stay,' Intelligence Firm Says

The U.S. government’s enforcement actions last year show that it’s “very apparent” that export controls are a “major priority” for the Biden administration, and that will continue this year, risk intelligence firm Sayari said this month.

Sayari pointed to the February launch of the joint Commerce Department-DOJ Disruptive Technology Strike Force (see 2302160019); the first-ever tri-seal compliance note issued by Commerce, DOJ and the Treasury Department in March (see 2303020054); and the joint alerts recently issued by Commerce and Treasury that outlined red flags for Russian sanctions and export control evasion (see 2311060055). These all “prove that export control enforcement is here to stay in 2024,” the firm said.
