State Dept. Approves Military Sales to Japan, Taiwan, Greece, Italy

The State Department recently approved possible military sales worth a combined nearly $3 billion to Japan, Taiwan, Greece and Italy, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said.

The agency approved two sales to Japan, including $59.03 million worth of “AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder Missiles” and $224 million worth of “AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles.” The principal contractor for both sales will be RTX Corp.

A $300 million military sale to Taiwan includes “Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) Life Cycle Support. The principal contractor hasn’t yet been chosen.

Greece would get $1.95 billion worth of “UH-60M Black Hawk Helicopters” and related equipment under the sale, and the principal contractor will be Sikorsky, owned by Lockheed Martin.

The State Department also approved a $400 million military sale to Italy for “M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems” and related equipment. The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin.
