Japan Expands Export Ban on Goods to Russia

Japan expanded its export ban on Russia to cover a wider array of goods, including luxury cars, electric vehicles and yachts, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced, according to an unofficial translation. The ministry said the move was made to "contribute to international efforts" to resolve the war in Ukraine and will take effect Aug. 9.

Covered goods include soil and lime, modified starch and glue, photographic materials, chemical industrial products, plastics, rubber, lumber, wood pulp, paper and paperboard products, wool, yarns, manmade long fibers, textile fabrics, second-hand clothing, stone, ceramic products, glass, steel, steel products, copper, nickel, aluminum, lead, zinc, tin and railway locomotives.
