Taiwan, US Reached Consensus in Some Areas in First Trade Talks Round

The U.S. readout of the first round of negotiations for the 21st Century Trade Initiative with Taiwan said the two sides reached consensus in a number of areas, and will continue to negotiate on trade facilitation, good regulatory practices, domestic regulation of services and approaches to boost small companies and fight corruption.

"Congressional staff traveled to Taipei and were briefed by [Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR)] officials throughout the round. USTR also hosted a stakeholder consultation meeting as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and robust external engagement," the readout said.

Many of the topics in this trade negotiation are similar to the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.
