Consensus Reached on Chairs for WTO Goods Council Subsidiary Bodies

World Trade Organization members reached a consensus July 28 on the 14 new heads of the subsidiary bodies that report to the Council for Trade in Goods. The General Council chair, Ambassador Dacio Castillo of Honduras, added that he will host consultations on how to "improve the overall process for the appointment of officers of all WTO bodies," according to an accompanying press release. The chairpersons are as follows:

Agriculture Committee: Marcos Da Rosa Uranga of Uruguay
Antidumping Committee: Ahmed Al-Sulaiti of Qatar
Customs Valuation Committee: Buddhi Prasad Upadhyaya of Nepal
Import Licensing Committee: Hsin-lung Hung of Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu
Information Technology Agreement Committee: Katarzyna Stecz of Poland
Market Access Committee: Chakarin Komolsiri of Thailand
Rules of Origin Committee: Sulaiman Satari of Afghanistan
Safeguards Committee: Mary Lisa Madell of the United Kingdom
Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures Committee: Juteau Deadjufo Tousse of Cameroon
Subsidies and Countervailing Measures Committee: Noriko Teranishi of Japan
Technical Barriers to Trade Committee: Elisa Maria Olmeda de Alejandro of Mexico
Trade Facilitation Committee: Christopher O'Toole of Canada
Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs) Committee: Vilma Peltonen of Finland
Working Party on State Trading Enterprises: Sultan Alsharif of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
