China Blocks Import of Poultry From Algeria Amid Avian Flu Outbreak
China banned the importation of poultry and related products directly or indirectly from Algeria following the identification of H5N8 avian influenza in poultry in the North African country. China declared the ban in a Feb. 19 customs announcement and also stipulated that customs officials will destroy all illegally imported poultry and poultry products from Algeria, according to an unofficial translation.
