State Department Approves Military Sales to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait

The State Department approved five potential military sales to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait worth about $4.66 billion combined, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Dec. 29.

The agency approved two sales to Egypt. One is for a “Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) System” and related equipment for about $104 million. The principal contractor will be Northrup Grumman. Another includes “Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods” and related equipment for $65.6 million. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company will be the principal contractor.

The State Department also approved two sales to Kuwait. The first sale includes “System Spares for Patriot Configuration 3+” and related equipment for $200 million. The principal contractor will be Raytheon Missile Systems. The second sale includes “AH-64E Apache Helicopters” and related equipment worth $4 billion. Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Electric, Longbow and Raytheon will be the principal contractors.

The sale to Saudi Arabia includes “GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb I (SDB I) Munitions” and related equipment for $290 million. The principal contractor will be Boeing.
