State Department Sanctions Restrict Sales to Iran's Construction, Nuclear Sector

The State Department imposed sanctions on Iran’s construction and nuclear sector, restricting sales of certain items, according to an Oct. 31 press release.

The first set of sanctions restrict the sale of “raw and semi-finished metals, graphite, coal, and software for integrating industrial purposes” to Iran’s construction sector, the State Department said. The sector is controlled directly by the sanctioned Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the press release said.

The second set of sanctions restrict the sale of certain materials issued in Iran’s nuclear, military or ballistic missile programs. The items include “stainless steel 304L tubes; MN40 manganese brazing foil; MN70 manganese brazing foil; and stainless steel CrNi60WTi ESR + VAR,” the State Department said. The sale of those goods is blocked “regardless of end-use or end-user.”
