CPSC Updates Child-Resistance Standard for Portable Gasoline Containers
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is amending its standards on child-resistance requirements for closures on portable gasoline containers to adopt the latest changes to the ASTM voluntary industry standard, it said in a direct final rule. Having last updated the standard in 2015, CPSC is now adopting changes to the ASTM standard made in November 2017 in their entirety, it said. The updated standard is mandatory for all portable gas containers sold or imported into the U.S. that were manufactured on or after Jan. 12, 2018.
