CPSC Sets New Safety Standard for Carriages and Strollers

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is finalizing a new safety standard for carriages and strollers. The agency’s final rule (here) adopts a revised industry voluntary standard ASTM F833-15. The new standard includes definitions of “convertible car seat/stroller,” and "locking and stop positions of the tray/grab bar," CPSC said. There also are new requirements for static load associated with step/footrest, combination units and testing requirements for "Containment/Foot Opening, Testing Tray/Grab Bar Locking Positions, and Testing Tray/Grab Bar Position," it said. The new standard takes effect Oct. 2.
