EU Government Notices for September 6

The European Union issued the following trade-related releases on September 6, 2011 (notices of most significance will be given separate headlines):

EU-Singapore FTA may be finalized soon. The President of the European Commission met with the Prime Minister of Singapore to discuss the conclusion of a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. The Commission President stated he is confident that the ongoing negotiations can be successfully finalized very soon. (here)
Parliament discusses EU corruption laws. The EU Parliament has announced that it will set up an EU Anti-Corruption Report to be issued every two years (the first in 2013) to monitor Member States' enforcement of anti-corruption laws. The Parliament has also discussed the need for better protection for whistleblowers, faster investigations and the need to smooth out differences across the EU in how bribery by multinationals of state officials in third countries is treated.
