CPSC Postpones Effective Date of Changes to Infant Carrier Safety Standard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission will allow more time for compliance with a recently issued final rule that updated its safety standard for hand-held infant carriers to incorporate the latest revisions to the ASTM voluntary industry standard, a notice released July 30 said. The final rule was to take effect Aug. 3. It will now take effect Jan. 1, 2021. CPSC decided to extend the deadline as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, because “disruptions in the U.S. economy may limit manufacturers’ ability to comply with the new labeling requirements of ASTM F2050-19.”
